All proceeds from this program goes to the support of the greater Keller community through our 501(c)3 foundation: Rotary Club Foundation of Keller, Inc. Many of our programs support the students and teachers in the greater Keller area. We also support the maintenance of the historic Mount Gilead cemetery. We also support special needs within the area as emergencies or natural disasters occur. Thank you for supporting our efforts to make Keller a better place to live.
How does the program work?
After you register for the program, Rotarians will visit the address where you want flags displayed and will install a sleeve in the ground for each flag you order. The sleeve is about 15 inches long and is buried in the ground. A cap is placed on the top end of the sleeve to prevent dirt from entering the sleeve. The top of the sleeve is at ground level if in a grass area and cannot be seen easily. For sleeves placed in flower beds, the top of the sleeve is about 3 to 4 inches above the ground level. On each of the six flag days a flag team of Rotarians and other volunteers will visit your address in the early morning and place an 3 foot by 5 foot American Flag mounted on a metal pole in the sleeve for each flag you ordered. In the late afternoon, the team will remove the flag. You may also order a Keeper Flag where you keep the flag and pole and may display the flag on any day you desire. A small paint symbol is painted on the curb or sidewalk to indicate the location of the sleeve. The cut off for registering for flags is about a week prior to the "flag holiday" to allow time to install sleeves and update the route sheets for the Rotarian teams.
What are the six flag holidays?:
- Presidents' Day - third Monday of February
- Memorial Day - last Monday in May
- Flag Day - June 14
- Independence Day - July 4
- Patriots' Day - September 11
- Veterans' Day - November 11
How much is the requested donation?
The price varies based on the number of flags you order and is pro-rated if you register for less that all six holidays as follows:
